We highly disapprove of drilling in this area as well as in any other area in our country: please accept the limits of the nature and back up when some “insurmountable obstacle” comes in your way without demolishing the rock putting bolts for "protection" or any other reason.
Leave that “big problem” for the next generation – they will be far better then what we do now anyway…
Go trad, go clean: the only way to be truly happy with yourself and the achievements!

Rock Climbing Areas

Prilep

The city of Prilep is some 130km to the south of the capitol Skopje. It is the city where in the early 1920's one of the oldest hiking clubs in our country was formed and it has a nice tradition in many other mountain sports including climbing. While we have seen some photos of some climbing drills being made in the 1960's, the first real climbing we think really started to happen in the 1980's, while now with all this bouldering and clean climbing hustle and bustle happening in the last 5-6 years or so, the city and the locals are "rediscovering" the climbing possibilities surrounding their hometown...

There are few places that we visit for clean climbing here, the closest being the area called Kamena Baba - a rock formation with the shortest approach from the city: let's say 5min with the car + 15min walk. The first route here was climbed on its east face that is around 80m high and that is the tallest climb today. The other faces/rock formations around the main rock are shorter some 20-30 meters cracks. Nothing spectacular in height, but we are in love with these cracks! The photos below are from the most recent trip that we did with some of our friends, while soon we will share more info about the routes here and also for the other areas close to this city.
